ice fishing equipment for a device for panfish, bass, catfish?

ok so I was ice fishing with a rod and reel combo in a few jigs and bait type grub from Berkley. I have 3 kilograms of the test, and if I get a fairly good size bass or catfish, it wouldnt line break? so my question is, when jigging through the ice Do some form of monofilament leader attached to a barrel swivel? or I just do not tie it directly to the 3 pound test? thanks.

If I fish mostly in (small lake and camping), we use most often 4 or 6 lb, and usually in the same baits as the warm weather. I think you're better for jigging tying the line directly, but easy to use and the use of a reversible case manager, or 4 lb. to about 2 m long. I put the wax worms or jigs are redworms. I spiders, small bluegill to cut in half, or if I would like the liver of cats. Small minnows work good bass and crappie. I do not use the Rod on the ice, I get the cheap children's room rod / reel combo, which is about 2-1/2 feet tall. Works just as well.
